RESOLUTION
Commending
South Korean Consulate General He-beom Kim and inviting him to be recognized by
the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
South Korean Consulate General He-beom Kim was born on November 28, 1959;
and
WHEREAS,
he received his bachelor's degree in public administration from Yonsei
University in 1981, his master's degree in public administration from Seoul
National University in 1987, and his master's degree in communication arts from
Cornell University in 1989, and he is currently pursuing his doctorate in media
studies from Hanyang University; and
WHEREAS,
he was the first secretary of the Korean Embassy in the United States of America
in 1997, assistant press secretary to the president in 2001, director-general of
the Public Relations Support Bureau for the Ministry of Culture, Sport, and
Tourism (MCST) in 2008, director and assistant minister of the the Korean
Culture and Information Service for the MCST in 2009, and the head assistant
minister of the Office of Public Relations for the Presidential Committee of the
G-20 Summit in 2010; and
WHEREAS,
there is a bond of friendship between the citizens of Georgia and South Korea,
and the people of Georgia welcome opportunities to grow our already deep
relationship at all levels, including cultural, agricultural, and business;
and
WHEREAS,
South Korea's key points on trade include being Georgia's 15th largest export
market for goods with exports totaling nearly $412 million in 2008, importing an
average of $499 million in goods from Georgia from 2008 to 2010, being the 5th
largest importer of American agriculture products, improving market access for
Georgia's transportation products export with KORUS FTA, and improving market
access for Georgia's top computer and electronic products with the elimination
of tariffs with KORUS FTA; and
WHEREAS, Consulate General He-beom Kim has long been recognized for his role in leadership and his deep personal commitment to fostering diplomatic relationships with countries around the world; and
WHEREAS, Consulate General He-beom Kim has long been recognized for his role in leadership and his deep personal commitment to fostering diplomatic relationships with countries around the world; and
WHEREAS,
South Korea has provided key support in the economic growth and development of
the State of Georgia under the leadership of Consulate General He-beom Kim, and
his dedicated efforts are worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the special contributions and efforts of South Korean
Consulate General He-beom Kim for his promotion of commercial ties and economic
prosperity between the State of Georgia and South Korea and invite him to be
recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time designated by the
Speaker of the House of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to South Korean
Consulate General He-beom Kim.
