RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Carolyn McAdams English; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Carolyn McAdams English has long been recognized by the citizens of this
state for the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her
deep personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
a native of Abbeville County, South Carolina, Dr. English has diligently and
conscientiously dedicated her time, talent, and energy to uplifting the lives of
the future leaders of this nation for over 38 years as an educator and
administrator; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. English was educated in the South Carolina Public School System and earned a
bachelor's degree from Johnson C. Smith University, a master's degree from
Atlanta University, and a doctoral degree in education from Clark Atlanta
University; and
WHEREAS,
during her distinguished career in education, Dr. English has been recognized
with numerous awards and honors, including acclaim for Meadowview Elementary
School where she serves as principal; and
WHEREAS,
under her guiding leadership as principal, Meadowview has earned Adequate Yearly
Progress reports for ten years and been recognized as a Georgia School of
Excellence, a National Title One Distinguished School, and a Georgia Title One
School; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. English is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and is a certified lay
speaker within the United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her contributions to the students in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Dr. Carolyn McAdams English for her
nearly four decades of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions
on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had
upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Carolyn
McAdams English.
