A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Betty Mae Castleberry Richardson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Betty Mae Castleberry Richardson on September 12, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Betty Mae was born on April 15, 1937, in Gainesville, Georgia, a beloved daughter of the late Paul and Mae Castleberry; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Betty Mae was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women and Wonderful Works as well as being a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible school teacher; and

WHEREAS, Betty Mae was united in love and marriage to John N. Richardson, Jr., and was blessed with two remarkable daughters, Karen Schaap and Paula Bagwell, and five wonderful grandchildren, Margaret Schaap, Mary Katherine Skidmore, Curt Bagwell, Ashley Bagwell, and Jessica Bagwell; and

WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Betty Mae Castleberry Richardson will long be remembered for her love of family and friendship, and this loyal wife, mother, daughter, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Betty Mae Castleberry Richardson and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Betty Mae Castleberry Richardson.
