RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Patrick Michael Kelley; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished young
citizens with the passing of Patrick Michael Kelley on December 20, 2011;
and
WHEREAS,
Patrick was born on December 20, 1993, a beloved son of Charles and Cheryl
Kelley, a remarkable brother to Christopher and Andrew Kelley, and an adored
grandson to Neil and Allene Kelley and Sid and Karen Harmon; and
WHEREAS,
he was a senior at Gainesville High School and a member of the marching band;
and
WHEREAS,
Patrick was involved in many activities including the Spanish Club, of which he
was president, the Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, the Environmental Awareness
Club, the Debate Team, and the Academic Bowl Team; and
WHEREAS,
he was the Senior Patrol Leader of Boy Scout Troop 242 and had completed the
requirements for Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS,
an individual of deep and abiding faith, Patrick was an active member of Grace
Episcopal Church and traveled with the youth group to Washington, D.C., New
Orleans, and a 10-day pilgrimage to Spain; and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous young man, Patrick Michael Kelley will long be
remembered for his love of family and friendship, and this loyal son, brother,
grandson, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Patrick Michael Kelley and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Patrick Michael Kelley.
