RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. William Donald Childs on his retirement and inviting him to appear before
the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. William Donald Childs has been a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau
Federation since 1956 and served on the organization's Board of Directors for
nearly 30 years; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation is the state's largest general farm
organization with members from 159 county offices who participate in activities
aimed to promote agricultural awareness throughout the state; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Childs's dedication and devotion to the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation is
evident as he has served with great distinction as a vice president since 1984
and as first vice president since 1994; and
WHEREAS,
committed to spreading the word about the importance of farming, Mr. Childs has
chaired the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation's Legislative Committee and the
Policy Development Committee, and he has also served as a voting delegate for
the American Farm Bureau Federation; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his remarkable qualities and achievements, Mr. Childs was
awarded the Georgia Farm Bureau Hero Award in 2008; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Childs's affiliations with other agricultural related organizations include
the FMHA, the Tri County Committee, the Georgia Water Wells Standards, and the
Jackson County Farm Bureau; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished Georgian is an active member of Erastus Christian Church,
serving as a Sunday school teacher and Elder of the church;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Childs is united in love and marriage to Edna Merle Childs and the couple has been blessed with two loving sons, Steve and Jerry; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Childs is united in love and marriage to Edna Merle Childs and the couple has been blessed with two loving sons, Steve and Jerry; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia is honored to have such a motivated and hard working
individual as one of its citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. William Donald Childs for his years of service to the
Georgia Farm Bureau Federation and extend best wishes on an enjoyable and well
deserved retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. William Donald Childs is hereby invited to appear
before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the
Speaker of the House for purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving
an appropriate copy of this resolution.
