A RESOLUTION


Honoring and celebrating the 100th birthday of Mrs. Mae Willie Jackson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Mae Willie Jackson was born on February 17, 1910, and this year she has the rare distinction of celebrating her 100th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson graduated as valedictorian from the Chattahoochee Institute in 1929 and was united in love and marriage on December 28, 1935, to the love of her life, Arlee Jackson; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of her family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson was employed by Southern Cotton Oil Company and the Columbian Peanut Company for over 50 years and informed and entertained others as a society columnist for the Cuthbert Times and the Southern Tribune; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Jackson is an active member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she has served as a Sunday school teacher, ward captain, Missionary Department president, BTU teacher, church mother, and a member of Pastor's Aide, matrons, and the senior choir; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson has served the North Side Baptist Union Meeting as chairman of the finance and program committees and has been a volunteer for the American Heart Fund Association; and

WHEREAS, for over 50 years, she served the Chattahoochee River Missionary Baptist Association as chairman of the missionary department, Sunday school secretary, and 28 years as BTU secretary; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mrs. Mae Willie Jackson on the occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes on many more years of happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Mae Willie Jackson.
