A RESOLUTION


Commending Georgia Tech sophomore football player Mr. Jonathan Dwyer on being named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Georgia Tech sophomore Mr. Jonathan Dwyer fully embraced a new coaching staff, a new offensive scheme, and a new position in the 2008 season; and

WHEREAS, a native of Marietta, Georgia, Mr. Dwyer compiled 1,395 rushing yards, earning the title of Atlantic Coast Conference rushing champion; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dwyer rushed for at least 100 yards in a game on nine occasions, tying a Georgia Institute of Technology single-season record; and

WHEREAS, this Yellow Jacket rushed for 12 touchdowns, led his team in scoring with 80 points, and recorded 209 receiving yards and 171 kickoff return yards; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dwyer's touchdown run of 88 yards versus Mississippi State University established a new Georgia Institute of Technology record for the longest run from scrimmage; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dwyer was a unanimous selection to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dwyer was named the top individual football player in the Atlantic Coast Conference for his outstanding achievements on the field.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Jonathan Dwyer on earning the title of Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and heartily congratulate him on his outstanding accomplishments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Jonathan Dwyer.
