A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Jones County Lady Hounds softball team on winning the Class AAAA State Championship and inviting them to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Jones County Lady Hounds softball team earned the top ranking in the state, earning the school its first State Championship and its second consecutive Regional Championship title; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Hounds completed their impressive season with 35 wins and 8 losses, a school record for wins in a season; and

WHEREAS, the title-winning team consisted of talented athletes Anna Agyao, Tyler Cannon, Tori Cauley, Taylor Dupree, Kaley Payne, Kaley Peacock, Kristen Carr, Beckie Soles, Mikayla Sparks, Chloe Fowler, Morgan Jackson, Jacy Roberton, Kendal Robinson, Taylor Bennett, Shay Hunter, Christa Malone, Kaitlyn Middlebrooks, and Olivia Lane, assisted by manager Josh Josey; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Blake Lyons and coaches Brandon Davis, Hayley Hanson, and Jessica Sowell; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Jones County Lady Hounds softball team for winning the Class AAAA State Championship and extend their sincere best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the coaches, players, and team manager are invited to appear before the House of Representatives on a date and at a time designated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit copies of this resolution to Head Coach Blake Lyons.
