RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Cadet COL Ashlie Shrewsbury; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Cadet COL Ashlie Shrewsbury attends North Georgia College and State University
on a Georgia Military Scholarship, where she is majoring in Spanish and minoring
in leadership; and
WHEREAS,
Cadet COL Shrewsbury was selected as the 2009-2010 Brigade Commander, leading a
Corps of Cadets of 700 students, becoming the first female brigade commander in
the university's 136-year history; and
WHEREAS,
after she completed basic training, Cadet COL Shrewsbury became proficient in
the Russian language while attending the Defense Language Institute and later
qualified to serve as a military interrogator and linguist at Advanced
Individual Training at Fort Huachucha, Arizona; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Cartersville, Georgia, Cadet COL Shrewsbury has studied abroad on
three occasions in order to advance her language skills, taking courses in
Germany at the People's Language Training Center, which is the U.S. Government's
premier foreign language institute; and
WHEREAS,
she exceeded the U.S. Army's standard and finished in the top two percent of her
regiment at the Army's Leadership Development Assessment Course and upon her
graduation from North Georgia College and State University in 2010, she will
commission with the Military Intelligence Branch of the Georgia Army National
Guard; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia is honored to have such a motivated and hard-working
individual as one of its citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Cadet COL Ashlie Shrewsbury for her outstanding achievements
and extend best wishes for her future endeavors.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cadet COL
Ashlie Shrewsbury.
