A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending University of Georgia's Amazing Student Adria Thorington; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Adria Thorington has shown by the example of her academic accomplishments and extracurricular involvement that the pursuit and attainment of excellence are within the reach of the students in this state; and

WHEREAS, Adria graduated magna cum laude with a bachelors of business administration degree from the University of Georgia in the spring of 2011 and was on the Dean's list each semester; and

WHEREAS, her other scholastic achievements and designations include Presidential Scholar, Phi Mu Scholar Award, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honor Society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, which is a recognition for being in the top 10 percent of her class at the Terry College of Business; and

WHEREAS, Adria served as a team leader for ugaMiracle and led Phi Mu's 2010 fundraising effort making Phi Mu the top UGA donor to the Children's Miracle Network; and

WHEREAS, her University of Georgia roots were sprouted as a youngster since both her parents, Tom and Liz Thorington, are UGA alumni; and

WHEREAS, this amazing graduate enjoys reading, long-distance running, watching movies, and exploring Athens; and

WHEREAS, by her many achievements and confidence, Adria has brought credit to her parents, her community, her school, and this state; and

WHEREAS, all Georgians are proud of young women who, like Adria, represent the very best that this state has to offer; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia looks forward with great anticipation to the promising and bright future of this remarkable young citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body hereby recognize and commend Adria Thorington as well as wish continued success in her future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Adria Thorington.
