WHEREAS, to win the title of state champions, the Grady High School team defeated Clarke Central High School on March 20, 2011, at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville; and

WHEREAS, this year's mock trial case involved a civil wrongful termination issue in which teams were evaluated on their ability to make a logical, cohesive, and persuasive presentation; and

WHEREAS, sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, the objective of the mock trial program is to further students' understanding of court procedure and the legal system; to improve proficiency in basic skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and reasoning; to promote better communication and cooperation between the educational and legal community; to provide a competitive event in an academic atmosphere; and to promote cooperation among young people of various abilities and interests; and

WHEREAS, the members of this young team have developed and refined their mental agility, verbal adroitness, and intellectual acumen and brought great pride to their school, classmates, and families; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding record of scholarly achievement and peerless performance of the members of the team be recognized appropriately.
