A
RESOLUTION
Commending
Dr. Wayne Frazier for his extraordinary work as a transformative principal; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
rarely are there leaders who have the unique ability to systematically
positively change the dynamics of a school within six months or less, but Dr.
Wayne Frazier possesses this extraordinary ability to take a school in the midst
of chaos and revive it to become a productive and beneficial school for its
students, parents, faculty, and staff; and
WHEREAS,
through this ability, Dr. Frazier has successfully turned around the Alternative
School, Tubman Middle School, and Glenn Hills High School, schools with gang
activity, assaults by students on teachers, drug use, and very little academic
achievement; and
WHEREAS,
within the first year, he had transformed the Alternative School into a school
of safety, structure, and successful teaching and learning; and
WHEREAS,
after only five months at Tubman Middle School, a school in NI-9 status because
it had not made Adequate Yearly Progress in nine years, it made AYP for the
first time in its history, improving in areas of behavior/discipline referrals,
student absenteeism, and student attendance, and by the end of the second year,
the school was removed from the most dangerous school list; and
WHEREAS,
similarly, at Glenn Hills High School, which had not made AYP for four years,
Dr. Frazier was able to transform the school and receive successful AYP results
in the first year as well as revive the climate to make it conducive for
teaching and learning; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Frazier's leadership style is one that fosters strong relationships with all
stakeholders, including feeder neighborhoods, community leaders, parents, staff,
and students; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Dr. Wayne Frazier for his extraordinary work as a
transformative principal.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Wayne
Frazier.
