A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending 3rd Annual Young Heart of the Community Award Winner William James; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. William James's reputation for community service and selfless dedication to others has been recognized by the Heart of the Community Foundation, Inc., and the Redmond Regional Medical Center with the 2011 Young Heart of the Community Award; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1987, the Heart of the Community Foundation Award honors community leaders, with more than 150 individuals recognized for their altruistic service over the last 25 years; and

WHEREAS, the Heart of the Community Foundation supports local heart related activities, community education, and local charities and this year has provided support to the Wellness Trails at Historic Johnson Hill, additional AED units for the community, and continued support of the Heart House on the Redmond Campus; and

WHEREAS, the 2011 Heart of the Community Award recipients will have donations made to a local charity in their honor; and

WHEREAS, Mr. James has uplifted the lives of members of the Rome community through his service to numerous organizations, including Compassionate Paws, Commission on Children and Youth, Cultivating Young Minds Garden Project, Kids Who Rock, Parents Leadership Coalition, Rome Federated Garden Clubs, Three Rivers Garden Club, and Livestrong: Ride 4 Yellow; and

WHEREAS, founder and president of Summit Quest Adventures, Mr. James is passionate about children and youth and motivating them to become engaged in the world around them; and

WHEREAS, the beloved son of Amelia James McCrickard and the late Randy James, Mr. James is united in love and marriage to his wife, Tara; and

WHEREAS, the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable man serve as a shining example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have Mr. James as a citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. William James on his outstanding community service and congratulate him on his receipt of the prestigious 2011 Young Heart of the Community Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. William James.
