RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mrs. Jacqueline Smith McCrary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mrs. Jacqueline Smith McCrary on February 20, 2009;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. McCrary was born on August 9, 1922, the beloved daughter of T. Lee Smith
and Emmie Dillard Smith, and graduated from Waycross High School in 1939;
and
WHEREAS,
she inspired and challenged young minds as an educator in the Waycross and Ware
County School Systems and served as an employment counselor at Slash Pine
Community Action Agency for 19 years, helping to change the lives of countless
Georgians; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. McCrary was a member of Waycross First
United Methodist Church since the age of nine and was a talented pianist and
seamstress; and
WHEREAS,
she was a devoted member of the Rose Garden Club, Music Club, and Friends of the
Library, and she was honored by the
Waycross
Journal-Herald as Mother of the Year in
1983; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. McCrary was united in love and marriage to Thomas Alton McCrary in 1942 and
was blessed with three daughters, Martha, Mary, and Virginia; three sons,
Thomas, Richard, and Roger; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends was admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. McCrary will long be remembered for her love of music, family, and
friendship, and this loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be missed
by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Jacqueline Smith McCrary
and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mrs. Jacqueline Smith McCrary.
