RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mrs. Ann Bell Brown; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mrs. Ann Bell Brown on March 23, 2009; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Brown was born on May 27, 1931, in Hoschton, Georgia, the beloved daughter
of the late M.C. Deaton and Irene Deaton; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Braselton High School, Mrs. Brown earned a registered nursing
degree from Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and worked in labor and delivery
suites in hospitals in Tennessee, California, and North Carolina;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Brown was devoted to uplifting her community and the lives of others, and
her many contributions were recognized with numerous accolades and honors,
including Ware County District Homemaker of the Year in 1965, the
Waycross
Journal-Herald's Mother of the Year award
in 1969, the Quiet Hero Award in 1995, and the Jack Fallin Award in 2005;
and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Brown was a member of First Presbyterian
Church, serving as the church's first female elder, teaching Sunday school, and
singing in the choir; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Brown was united in love and marriage to her husband, Dr. Edward B. Brown,
and she was blessed with six children, Lynda, Rebecca, Sandra, Paul, Karen,
Robert, and Christopher; and ten remarkable grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends was admired by others;
and
WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS,
Mrs. Brown will long be remembered for her love the outdoors, acting, family,
and friendship, and this loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be
missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Ann Bell Brown and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mrs. Ann Bell Brown.
