BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 1A of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to early care and learning, so as to require early care and education programs
to provide information on the influenza vaccine; to provide for related matters;
to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
1A of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to early care
and learning, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as
follows:
"20-1A-18.
(a)
Each early care and education program shall, by September 1 of each year,
provide to the parent or guardian of each child enrolled in the program
educational information on the influenza vaccine. Such information shall
include, but not be limited to:
(1)
The causes and symptoms of influenza and the means by which it is
spread;
(2)
The risks associated with influenza;
(3)
The availability, effectiveness, and known contraindications of the influenza
vaccine; and
(4)
Related recommendations issued by the federal Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, including the recommended ages at which children receive the
influenza vaccine.
(b)
The failure on the part of an early care and education program to comply with
the provisions of this Code section shall not subject such program to any civil
or criminal liability.
(c)
Nothing in this Code section shall be construed to require any early care and
education program to provide or pay for immunizations against
influenza."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
