BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
abolish the office of elected county surveyor of Lamar County pursuant to Code
Section 36-7-2.1 of the O.C.G.A. and provide for the appointment of a county
surveyor; to provide for an effective date; to provide for related matters; to
repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
(a)
Pursuant to Code Section 36-7-2.1 of the O.C.G.A., the office of elected county
surveyor of Lamar County is
abolished.
(b) The Board of Commissioners of Lamar County is authorized to appoint a county surveyor. The county surveyor shall be appointed for an indefinite term and shall serve at the pleasure of the board of commissioners. A county surveyor appointed by the board of commissioners shall possess the qualifications as provided in Code Section 36-7-2 of the O.C.G.A.
(b) The Board of Commissioners of Lamar County is authorized to appoint a county surveyor. The county surveyor shall be appointed for an indefinite term and shall serve at the pleasure of the board of commissioners. A county surveyor appointed by the board of commissioners shall possess the qualifications as provided in Code Section 36-7-2 of the O.C.G.A.
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
