BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 5 of Chapter 4 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to prescription drugs, so as to provide for legislative
intent; to provide that every retail pharmacist shall include the normal retail
price or the wholesale acquisition price of an outpatient prescription drug on
the receipt for that prescription drug; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
5 of Chapter 4 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to prescription drugs, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as
follows:
"26-4-91.
(a)
It is the intent of the General Assembly to enhance consumer responsibility and
education regarding the actual cost of prescription drugs.
(b)
Every retail pharmacist shall ensure that the normal retail price or the
wholesale acquisition price of an outpatient prescription drug is printed on the
receipt that the patient or his or her representative or agent receives upon the
purchase or receipt of such prescription drug dispensed by such pharmacist
pursuant to a prescription drug
order."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
