BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 91 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to public works bidding, so as to require that all competitive sealed bids and
all competitive sealed proposals for local government public works construction
contracts provide information regarding health insurance coverage for employees;
to provide for related matters; to provide for applicability and an effective
date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
91 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to public
works bidding, is amended by adding a new subsection (g) to Code Section
36-91-20, relating to the requirement of written contracts, to read as
follows:
"(g)
Any competitive sealed bid or competitive sealed proposal submitted by a bidder
or offeror for a public works construction project pursuant to this article
shall include whether the bidder or offeror has and will maintain health
insurance coverage for its employees throughout the term of such
contract."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective on July 1, 2009, and shall apply to all competitive
sealed bids and all competitive sealed proposals submitted by a bidder or
offeror for a public works construction project on and after such
date.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
