SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 13

DECLARING THAT THE COMFORT STATION AT CAPE HENLOPEN STATE PARK BE RENAMED THE DAVID B. MCBRIDE COMFORT STATION.



WHEREAS, Senator David B. McBride has served with honor and distinction representing the people of Hawk's Nest and the 13th Senatorial District in the Delaware State Senate for 36 years; and

WHEREAS, Senator McBride has been a tireless advocate for the preservation of the natural heritage of the State of Delaware for generations to come; and

WHEREAS, Senator McBride was instrumental in the passage of the Open Space Act, which established the State's land protection program, which, since its creation, has protected over 56,000 acres of open space; and

WHEREAS, through the leadership of Senator McBride, the Hazardous Substances Cleanup Act was put into law, establishing a state-superfund program to address contaminated sites; and

WHEREAS, the Clean Indoor Act was made law thanks to the advocacy of Senator McBride, creating a more clean and healthy environment for all Delawareans; and

WHEREAS, the work of Senator McBride over his 36 years in the Delaware State Senate has helped facilitate the mission of the State Park system in Delaware, allowing citizens to experience the State's beaches, freshwater ponds, scenic views, urban oases, and historic landmarks; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control's Adopt-a-Beach program was the outgrowth of advocacy work by Senator McBride, who has adopted a half-mile section of Delaware coastline; and

WHEREAS, the comfort station on the grounds of Cape Henlopen State Park is a structure which exemplifies the years of hard-work and advocacy of Senator McBride.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, with the approval of the Governor, that the comfort station on the grounds of Cape Henlopen State Park be renamed the David B. McBride Comfort Station.


SYNOPSIS

This joint resolution names the comfort station on the grounds of Cape Henlopen State Park after Senator David B. McBride.
