DELAWARE STATE SENATE

148th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 56

EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE EDUCATION FUNDING IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION.



WHEREAS, the Education Funding Improvement Commission to review and make recommendations to modernize and improve Delaware's system for funding public education was established under Senate Joint Resolution No. 4 of the 148th General Assembly to conduct a comprehensive review of Delaware's public education funding system and make recommendations to modernize and strengthen the system; and

WHEREAS, the Commission was directed to submit its findings and recommendations report to the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives no later than March 31, 2016; and

WHEREAS, the Commission has worked diligently on its study, but is not yet prepared to submit its report; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Commission believe that they will be able to submit the report by June 30, 2016;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House concurring therein, that the date by which the findings and recommendations report of the Education Funding Improvement Commission to review and make recommendations to modernize and improve Delaware's system for funding public education is due be extended to June 30, 2016.


SYNOPSIS

This resolution extends the due date of the findings and recommendations report of the Education Funding Improvement Commission from March 31, 2016 to June 30, 2016.
