DELAWARE STATE SENATE

145th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 26

COMMENDING THE DELAWARE STATE DENTAL SOCIETY ON THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF ITS SIXTH ANNUAL GIVE KIDS A SMILE PROGRAM, AND RECOGNIZE ITS CONTINUING EFFORTS.

WHEREAS, on February 5, 2010 the Delaware State Dental Society (DSDS) will hold its seventh annual Give Kids a Smile Program; and

WHEREAS, this Give Kids a Smile Program was considered a rousing success by its organizers, having served over 103 children in Delaware and involving over 144 volunteers and 9 organizations in 2009; and

WHEREAS, 40 Dentists, 37 hygienists, 19 technicians, and 48 auxiliary staff volunteered in 2009; and

WHEREAS, through the Give Kids a Smile Program, the DSDS was able to provide $35,090.00 in free dentistry services to Delaware's kids in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Patterson Dental has donated $9,800 in equipment and supplies; and

WHEREAS, the DSDS has plans to build on last year's success by adding more sites in the future, modifying its volunteer schedule, and hosting an after event for the Program's participants; and

WHEREAS, it is the purpose and intent of the Senate in adopting this resolution to support the DSDS in its efforts to help Delaware's children;

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 145^th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the Delaware State Dental Society is commended for the achievements of its Sixth Annual Give Kids a Smile Program and the Senate and House of Representatives wish them continuing success in their Seventh Annual Program scheduled for February 5, 2010.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be prepared and presented to the Delaware State Dental Society upon its passage.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution commends the Delaware State Dental Society on the success of its Sixth Annual Give Kids a Smile Program.
