DELAWARE STATE SENATE

147th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE BILL NO. 7

AN ACT TO AMEND THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF WILMINGTON RELATING TO THE CITY AUDITOR.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE (Two-thirds of all members elected to each house thereof concurring therein):


Section 1. Amend §3-201 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Wilmington by making insertions as shown by underlying and deletions as shown by strike through as follows:

The city auditor shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of council.At the general election to be held in the year 2014 and in every fourth year thereafter, a city auditor shall be elected.


SYNOPSIS

This act would make the office of the Wilmington City Auditor an elective office commencing with the 2014 election.  Presently, the City Auditor is appointed by the Mayor of Wilmington and confirmed by City Council.
