145th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE BILL NO. 271

AN ACT TO AMEND ALL TITLES OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE DELAWARE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER'S ASSOCIATION AND TO AMEND TITLE 18 RELATING TO THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DELAWARE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER'S ASSOCIATION.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1.Amend all titles of the Delaware Code by deleting the phrase "Delaware Volunteer Fireman's Association" as found throughout the code, and by replacing it with the phrase "Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association" at each location.

Section 2.Amend Section 705(d) of Title 18 of the Delaware Code by deleting the existing subsection (d) therein, and replacing it with the following:

"(d)The Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association shall annually submit to the Commissioner a report giving their location, apparatus and equipment maintained for its member fire companies and departments for use by the Commissioner in calculating the funding under this Act."

Section 3.Amend Section 705(e), Title 18, Delaware Code, by deleting the phrase "to the other fire departments registering" and replace with "to the member departments identified in the report filed by the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association."


SYNOPSIS

This Bill changes the name of the Delaware Volunteer Fireman's Association to the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association pursuant to the change of name adopted at the 2009 Convention, and codifies the existing practice of fire company reports to the Insurance Commissioner's office.
