HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 14 |

CELEBRATING THE 95TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS. |
WHEREAS, February 14, 2015 marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of the League of Women Voters of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 to help 20 million new women voters carry out their new responsibilities of using their voice in the ballot box; and
WHEREAS, the history of the Delaware League of Women Voters began in 1921; and
WHEREAS, the Delaware League soon achieved distinction through its support of new school construction throughout the State and through forcing the abolition of child labor within the State; and
WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters has provided nonpartisan information on candidates and issues for elections, encouraged voter registration and informed voting, helped generations of voters understand the structure and function of government, provided balanced information on public policy to citizens and worked to achieve government policies that promote public interest; and
WHEREAS, in 1958, the Delaware League joined the League of Women Voters of the United States and became known as the League of Women Voters of Delaware to promote its goals within our First State;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that we recognize the contributions made by the League of Women Voters of the United States over the past 95 years and we offer heartiest congratulations to the members of this organization on the occasion of this anniversary and extend our best wishes for the continued success of the League in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that six suitably prepared copies of this Resolution be presented to Charlotte King, President, League of Women Voters of Delaware.
