HOUSE BILL NO. 51

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 11 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE GOLD ALERT PROGRAM FOR CERTAIN MISSING PERSONS.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1. Amend �8582(b), Title 11 of the Delaware Code by inserting the following language at the end of subsection (b):

"Additionally, when an investigating law-enforcement agency has verified that a senior citizen, a suicidal person, or a person with a disability is missing, the investigating law-enforcement agency shall contact the Department of Transportation.The Department of Transportation shall display on its variable message signs appropriate information that may assist in the safe return of the missing senior citizen, suicidal person, or person with a disability, including a contact number for law enforcement.".


SYNOPSIS

This bill requires the Department of Transportation to display on its variable message signs information regarding missing senior citizens, suicidal persons, or persons with a disability.
