HOUSE BILL NO. 444

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE STATE COCKTAIL.

WHEREAS, the Orange Crush cocktail is claimed to have been originated by bartenders in Ocean City, Maryland in 1995; and

WHEREAS, the Orange Crush has been made famous and become synonymous with Dewey Beach, Delaware; and

WHEREAS, The Starboard in Dewey Beach, Delaware perfected the Orange Crush and serves the most Orange Crush cocktails of any bar in Delaware every beach season; and

WHEREAS, the Orange Crush cocktail is a highball containing fresh-squeezed orange juice, orange vodka, triple sec, and lemon-lime soda with crushed ice.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend Chapter 3, Title 29 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§ 333. State cocktail.

The Orange Crush is the official cocktail of Delaware.

SYNOPSIS

This Act designates the Orange Crush as the State cocktail.
