HOUSE BILL NO. 402
AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 16 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO COUNTY BUILDING CODES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:
Section 1. Amend § 7606, Title 16 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:
§ 7606. Solar-ready zone; school and state buildings.
(a) This section applies to new school buildings governed by Chapter 75 of Title 29 and new state buildings governed by Chapter 69 of Title 29.
(b) New school and state buildings of at least 50,000 square feet, must contain a “solar-ready zone” as defined in § 7605 of this title.
(c) (1) Construction documents for buildings subject to this section must comply with the requirements of § 7605(d).
(2) Buildings subject to this section must comply with the requirements of § 7605(f) through (i).
Section 2. This Act applies to school and state buildings for which a building permit request has been submitted on or after January 1, 2030.
SYNOPSIS
This Act requires new schools and state buildings over 50,000 square feet to meet certain requirements to ensure that the building's roof is able to support solar energy infrastructure.
