HOUSE BILL NO. 239

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 26 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO ELECTRIC UTILITY CORPORATIONS.


bBE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1.Amend Subchapter 1, Chapter 9, Title 26 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§910.Call Centers for Electric Utility Corporations.

(a)     Every electric utility corporation furnishing utility services within the State shall provide the following call center customer assistance: receiving inquiries on customer financial responsibility; receiving requests to initiate or terminate service; receiving requests for emergency services; determining deposit required or billing rate; receiving meter and service orders and access to meter requests; explaining company rates, regulations, policies, procedures, and common practices; initiating trouble order forms and high bill investigations; handling payment and other credit arrangements such as obtaining deposits, financial statements and payment plans; and referring customers to social service agencies and other assistance programs.

(b)     Every electric utility corporation providing utility service within the State shall have its call center for customer assistance within the State of Delaware or within a distance of 50 miles from the State of Delaware.


SYNOPSIS

This bill provides that electric utility corporations shall provide call center customer assistance inside the State of Delaware or within 50 miles from the State of Delaware.
