HOUSE BILL NO. 211

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 14 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1.Amend §205, Title 14 of the Delaware Code by adding the following at the end of that section:

"The sole criteria for admission to vocational-technical schools shall be residency in the district and eligibility to attend public school.In the event that the number of students wishing to attend a vocational-technical school exceeds the school's capacity, admission shall be determined by lottery."

Section 2.This bill shall become effective for the academic year following its enactment.


SYNOPSIS

This bill requires that admission to vocational-technical high schools be determined through a lottery system rather than any other criteria.
