SCR 127, Allen. Multifaith Heritage Month.
This measure would designate the month of December each year as Multifaith Heritage Month, and would encourage residents of California to join in fostering a community grounded in mutual respect, understanding, and harmony among diverse faiths and cultures.

WHEREAS, The State of California is recognized as a beacon of multifaith harmony where diverse faith traditions increasingly weave into the fabric of everyday life, enriching the social, cultural, and spiritual life of the community; and
WHEREAS, The residents of California celebrate the vibrant tapestry of beliefs that characterize our multifaith community, fostering unity, understanding, and open dialogue among people of different faiths and backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, By embracing a wide array of faiths and cultures, California cultivates an environment that values diversity, promotes a sense of belonging for all individuals, and strengthens the country’s distinctive identity as a place of inclusion and respect; and
WHEREAS, The MultiFaith Initiative is a statewide organization whose mission is to welcome, stand with, and celebrate the major faith and spiritual traditions in our communities, promoting understanding, respect, and cooperative activities while partnering with other organizations to realize our common values and goals; and
WHEREAS, In alignment with the principles of peace, justice, and equity, the MultiFaith Initiative encourages the community to pledge itself as a multifaith state and commit to nonviolence, access to essential resources such as education, health care, security, and technology, and treating all individuals with fairness, compassion, and respect; and
WHEREAS, The residents and leadership of California aspire to uphold truth, rationality, and ethical decisionmaking in public and private life and act with justice and compassion while celebrating the diversity of faiths, cultures, and lifestyles that enrich the lives of all California residents; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, the Assembly thereof concurring, That the State of California designates the month of December each year as Multifaith Heritage Month and encourages all residents to join in fostering a community grounded in mutual respect, understanding, and harmony among diverse faiths and cultures.
