An act to amend Section 500 of the Evidence Code, relating to evidence.

Under existing law, a party has the burden of proof as to each fact the existence or nonexistence of which is essential to the claim for relief or defense that the party is asserting.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to this provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 500 of the Evidence Code is amended to read:

500.
 Except as otherwise provided by law, a party has the burden of proof as to each fact the existence or nonexistence of which is essential to the claim for relief or defense that he the party is asserting.
