LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 935, as amended, Allen. Elections: candidate statements.
Existing law permits a candidate for United States Senator or Representative to purchase space to place a candidate statement in the state voter information guide, as specified. Existing law also permits a candidate for State Senate or Assembly who accepts the voluntary expenditure limits to purchase space to place a candidate statement in the voter information portion of the sample ballot.
This bill would require the Secretary of State to prescribe a maximum amount that a candidate for any of these offices may be charged to purchase space for a candidate statement.
