An act to add Section 21715.2 to the Business and Professions Code, relating to business.

SB 709, as introduced, Menjivar. Self-service storage facilities: rental agreements.
Existing law, the California Self-Service Storage Facility Act, establishes procedures governing the operation of self-service storage facilities, including specifying remedies for facility owners when occupants are delinquent in paying rent or other charges.
This bill would require each rental agreement pursuant to the act to limit rental increases to no more frequently than once every 3 months and to an amount not to exceed ____% per calendar year.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 21715.2 is added to the Business and Professions Code, to read:

21715.2.
 Each rental agreement pursuant to this chapter shall limit rental increases to both:
(a) No more frequently than once every three months.
(b) An amount not to exceed ____ percent per calendar year.
