CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2019–2020 REGULAR SESSION

Senate Bill No. 60

Introduced by Senator Atkins

December 19, 2018

An act to amend Section 215 of the Code of Civil Procedure, relating to jury duty.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 60, as introduced, Atkins. Jury duty: fees.
Existing law establishes a fee of $15 a day for each day’s attendance as a juror after the first day. Existing law prohibits payment of that $15 fee to a juror who is employed by a federal, state, or local government entity, as specified, and who continues to receive regular compensation and benefits while performing jury service.
This bill would clarify that the payment prohibition applies to a juror who is employed by the Legislature and who continues to receive regular compensation and benefits while performing jury service.
