   An act relating to adult education.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 591, as introduced, Romero. Adult education.
   Existing law authorizes the governing board of a school district
maintaining secondary schools, with the approval of the State
Department of Education, to establish and maintain classes for
adults, except programs and classes in outdoor science education and
conservation education, for the purpose of providing instruction in
civic, vocational, literacy, health, homemaking, technical, and
general education.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would pertain to adult education.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would pertain to adult education.
