   An act to amend Section 108048 of the Health and Safety Code,
relating to product safety.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1048, as introduced, Nguyen. Product safety: Product Recall
Safety and Protection Act.
   The Product Recall Safety and Protection Act prohibits a
commercial dealer, manufacturer, importer, distributor, wholesaler,
or retailer from manufacturing, remanufacturing, distributing,
selling at wholesale or retail, contracting to sell or resell, lease,
or sublet, or otherwise placing into the stream of commerce, a
product that is unsafe knowing that the product is unsafe. The act
provides that it does not relieve these entities from compliance with
stricter requirements that may be imposed by a federal agency.
   This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this law.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 108048 of the Health and Safety Code is amended
to read:
   108048.   Nothing in this   This 
chapter  relieves   does not relieve  a
commercial dealer, manufacturer, importer, distributor, wholesaler,
or retailer from compliance with stricter requirements that may be
imposed by an agency of the federal government.
