Relative to Easterseals Bay Area.

ACR 44, as introduced, Bonta. Easterseals Bay Area.
This measure would recognize Easterseals Bay Area (ESBA) for its 90th anniversary, and would recognize the ESBA board of directors, leadership, and staff for their work.

WHEREAS, Easterseals Bay Area (ESBA) was incorporated in 1927 by a group of community leaders and board members, committed to providing the best therapeutic care to children with disabilities and their families, a tradition that continues today; and
WHEREAS, ESBA began with a modest budget providing occupational therapy services to children at their center in Oakland and at the Highland Alameda County Hospital, as well as to homebound children; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its 90 year history, ESBA has changed to meet the needs of the families it serves based upon advancements in medical and behavioral treatment and technology; and
WHEREAS, ESBA is now the largest provider of applied behavioral analysis treatment for children with autism, serving over 4,000 clients with autism in 10 northern California counties, through a behavioral health provider network comprised of 3,600 practitioners, to meet the needs of children and young adults; and
WHEREAS, The business and medical communities have partnered with ESBA throughout its history and this partnership continues today with companies such as Kaiser Permanente, Salesforce, and Athenahealth as key business and technology partners, to transform the delivery and quality of home and community-based health services; and
WHEREAS, ESBA has worked to eliminate architectural and societal barriers to inclusion of people with disabilities; now, therefore be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature recognizes Easterseals Bay Area for its 90th anniversary and its commitment to ensuring that all children and adults with autism or developmental disabilities can live, learn, work, and play as active members of their communities; and be it further
Resolved, That the Legislature recognizes the ESBA board of directors, leadership, and staff for their work to change the way the world defines and views disabilities; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
