CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE—
2019–2020 REGULAR SESSION
| Assembly Bill | No. 886 |
| Introduced by Assembly Member Eggman |
February 20, 2019 |
An act to amend Section 42257 of the Public Resources Code, relating to recycling.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 886, as introduced, Eggman.
Plastic bags.
Existing law, until January 1, 2020, requires an operator of a store, as defined, to establish an at-store recycling program that provides to customers the opportunity to return clean plastic carryout bags to that store, and requires a manufacturer of plastic carryout bags to develop educational materials to encourage the reduction, reuse, and recycling of plastic bags and make those materials available to those stores.
This bill would extend the operation of those requirements to January 1, 2021.
