An act to add Section 66942 to the Education Code, relating to
postsecondary education.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 626, as introduced, Blumenfield. Distance learning: definition.
Existing law establishes the California Distance Learning Policy,
which sets forth the guiding goal and principles for utilizing
technology in postsecondary education.
This bill would define "distance learning," for the purposes of
the above provision, as a course conducted with over 1/2 of the
instructional content delivered when faculty and students are in
different physical places.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 66942 is added to the Education Code, to read:
66942. For the purposes of this article, "distance learning"
means a course conducted with over one-half of the instructional
content delivered when faculty and students are in different physical
places.
