| Assembly Bill | No. 599 |
| Introduced by Assembly Member Maienschein |
February 14, 2019 |
An act to add Section 50093.1 to the Health and Safety Code, relating to housing.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 599, as introduced, Maienschein.
Housing programs: definitions: workforce housing.
Existing law governing housing and home finance programs defines various terms for purposes of those programs, including the term “persons and families of low or moderate income,” which is generally defined as persons and families whose income does not exceed 120% of area median income, adjusted as provided.
Existing law provides that 20% of the moneys in the Building Homes and Jobs Trust Fund on and after January 1, 2019, be appropriated by the Legislature and expended for affordable owner-occupied workforce housing.
This bill, for these purposes, would define the terms “affordable workforce housing” and “affordable owner-occupied workforce housing” as housing that is affordable to persons and families of low or moderate income.
