An act to add Section 20570.5 to the Government Code, relating to public employees’ retirement.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 592, as introduced, Dahle.
Public employees’ retirement: contracting agencies.
Existing law authorizes public agencies to contract with the Board of Administration of the Public Employees’ Retirement System to have their employees become members of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and makes an contracting agency that terminates a contract liable to PERS for any deficit in funding for earned benefits, interest, and reasonable and necessary costs of collection.
This bill would authorize a contracting agency to request a calculation of the total costs necessary to terminate its contract with PERS.
