BILL NUMBER: AB 591 INTRODUCED
BILL TEXT
INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Hadley
FEBRUARY 24, 2015
An act to amend Section 1569 of the Health and Safety Code,
relating to residential care facilities.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 591, as introduced, Hadley. Residential care facilities.
The California Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly Act
provides for the licensure and regulation of residential care
facilities for the elderly by the State Department of Social
Services. Under existing law, the Legislature finds and declares
that, due to a greater demand for residences for the elderly that
provide care and supervision, residential care facilities for the
elderly are licensed as a separate category from community care
facilities. Under existing law, no residential facility for the
elderly can accept persons needing care beyond the level of care for
which that facility is licensed.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that
provision.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 1569 of the Health and Safety Code is amended
to read:
1569. This chapter shall be known known,
and may be cited cited, as the
California Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly Act.
