An act to amend Section 70627 of the Government Code, relating to
courts.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 497, as introduced, Achadjian. Court filing fees: San
Bernardino County.
Existing law specifies fees for preparing copies of records,
comparing with an original document on file in the office of the
clerk, and a search of court records requiring more than 10 minutes.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to these
provisions.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 70627 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
70627. The fees collected under this section shall be distributed
to the court in which they were collected.
(a) The clerk of the court shall charge fifty cents ($0.50) per
page to cover the cost of preparing copies of any
a record, proceeding, or paper on file in the clerk's
office.
(b) For comparing with the original on file in the office of the
clerk of any a court, the copy of
any a paper, record, or proceeding
prepared by another and presented for the clerk's certificate, the
fee is one dollar ($1) per page, in addition to the fee for the
certificate.
(c) The fee for a search of records or files conducted by a court
employee that requires more than 10 minutes is fifteen dollars ($15)
for each search.
