CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2021–2022 REGULAR SESSION

Assembly Bill
No. 405

Introduced by Assembly Member Smith

February 03, 2021

An act to amend Section 44382 of the Education Code, relating to teacher credentialing.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 405, as introduced, Smith. Teacher credentialing: alternative certification programs.
Existing law defines an alternative certification program as a program operated by certain entities that is designed to provide a concentrated program leading to a permanent teaching credential. Existing law requires alternative certification programs to address geographic and subject matter shortage areas and be targeted toward people with work experience and others who already have a bachelor’s degree in the field in which they plan to teach.
This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the provision relating to subject matter shortage areas.
Vote: MAJORITY   Appropriation: NO   Fiscal Committee: NO   Local Program: NO

SECTION 1.

Section 44382 of the Education Code is amended to read:

44382.
