An act to amend Section 275.2 of the Government Code, relating to
public officers.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 287, as introduced, Buchanan. Public officers: minors.
Existing law provides that a public officer who is a minor shall
have the rights and liabilities of an adult, both civil and criminal,
with regard to that public officer's official duties, and a
candidate for nomination or election to public office who is a minor
shall have the rights and liabilities of an adult, both civil and
criminal, with regard to that candidate's activities as a candidate.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to these
provisions.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 275.2 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
275.2. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a public
officer who is a minor shall have the rights and liabilities of an
adult, both civil and criminal, with regard to his or her
official duties, and a candidate for nomination or election to public
office who is a minor shall have the rights and liabilities of an
adult, both civil and criminal, with regard to his or her
activities as a candidate.
