An act relating to athlete agents.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


AB 270, as introduced, Chu. Athlete agents: prospective student athletes.
Existing law, the Miller-Ayala Athlete Agents Act, regulates various activities of an athlete agent in representing student athletes and professional athletes, including contact with athletes, contract negotiations, and required disclosures.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to subsequently amend this bill to include provisions that would amend the Miller-Ayala Athlete Agents Act to conform that act to recently adopted rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association regarding allowable contacts and gift exchanges between athlete agents and elite senior prospective student athletes.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 It is the intent of the Legislature to subsequently amend this measure to include provisions that would amend the Miller-Ayala Athlete Agents Act to conform that act to recently adopted rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association regarding allowable contacts and gift exchanges between agents and elite senior prospective student athletes.
