An act relating to water.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 2656, as introduced, Eggman.
Wholesale water suppliers: water loss audit reports.
Existing law requires the state to achieve a 20% reduction in urban per capita water use in California by December 31, 2020. Existing law requires each urban retail water supplier to develop urban water use targets and an interim urban water use target, in accordance with specified requirements. Existing law requires each urban retail water supplier to annually submit a completed and validated water loss audit report for the previous calendar year or fiscal year, as provided.
Existing law requires the department, in coordination with the State Water Resources Control Board, to conduct necessary studies and investigations and make a recommendation to the Legislature, by January 1, 2020, on the feasibility of developing and enacting water loss reporting requirements for urban wholesale water suppliers.
This
bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would require wholesale water suppliers to conduct and submit annual water loss audit reports to the department.
