   An act relating to pupil instruction.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 2653, as introduced, Block. Pupil instruction: high school
continuation education.
   Existing law requires the governing board of each high school
district and each unified school district to establish and maintain
within its boundaries special continuation education classes, as
specified, whenever there are any minors residing within the district
who are subject to compulsory continuation education.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would promote excellence in high school continuation
education programs.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would promote excellence in high school continuation
education programs.
