An act relating to prejudice.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 2292, as introduced, Berman. Intimidation: bigotry.

Existing law defines a “hate crime” as a criminal act committed, in whole or in part, because of actual or perceived characteristics of the victim, including, among other things, race, religion, disability, and sexual orientation.

This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would relate to addressing intimidation based on bigotry.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

 It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would relate to addressing intimidation based on bigotry.
